Starting Your Own Business

Hey girls! It’s Lily here, trying to think about what I’m going to be doing this summer. I don’t know about you, but sometimes when there isn’t any school to go to or homework to do, I find myself sitting around bored far too often. So I was thinking that maybe this summer, I would try to start my own business. I’m not so sure what I want my business to be about yet, but I think it would be fun to try out and is a great way to pass the time during the summer.
Starting your own business can be easy, but requires a lot of planning and organization. It’s important to talk with a parent or adult with your ideas before you go ahead because a lot of times they might think of things you haven’t considered yet, and can help you if you run into any problems along the way.
Obviously, you need to figure out what your business will be about…something I’m still working on. What you decide on should be something you have a passion for and love doing. If you love working with little kids, you could start a babysitting or mother’s helper business. If you love art, you could make home-made greeting cards or pictures. There’s tons of different ideas you can try: making jewelry, writing a weekly magazine, or decorating clothing and accessories. Figure out what you enjoy doing, and see how you can make that into a business. It might be slow-going at first, but the important thing to remember is to stick with it and be patient: starting a business takes time and energy, and isn’t something you can accomplish in one day. Keep working at it and see what you can create!
