Hey girls! It’s Lily here, bring you some awesome news for girls; tween girls, specifically! This year marks the first ever National Tween Girl Summit, which will be held on October 10th at the historic Capital Hilton Hotel, two blocks from the White House! This summit is a huge step in getting the voices of tween girls heard by important politicians around the country. The National Tween Girl Summit founder, Denise Restauri, says that the goal of the Summit is to “give tween girls the chance to be heard, a chance to speak for themselves, and a chance for them to show what a difference they can make to the world around them.” It sounds like such an awesome idea! 300 girls between the ages of nine and fourteen from around the country are expected to attend the National Tween Girl Summit. Joining them will be politicians, celebrities, and experts on all different kind of fields. The girls will get a chance to share their thoughts and opinions on tons of different subjects, while parents, policy makers, and marketers will get a chance to better understand what tween girls think about the world today!
If you’re interested in attending the Summit (and you should be! It sounds great!) you can apply on their website http://www.allykatzz.com/page/summit/ for FREE tickets if you’re between the ages of 9 and 14. But don’t worry, if you’re 15 or older, you can go too, by applying to be a Teen Volunteer at the Summit. Teen Volunteers get to register girls, blog and report about their experiences, upload photos and videos to websites, and even assist speakers, performers and the press! See what kind of a change YOU can make in history!
