Should You Take Back Your BFF?

Should Your Forgive Your Best Friend?
Should Your Forgive Your Best Friend?

Hey Girls – it’s GirlMogul Lily here with more BFF advice.   It seems as we go through school, friend stuff gets more and more complicated.  I mean, like wouldn’t it be easier if you could just know that you could always count on your friends.  I mean with the other GirlMoguls, I feel like they have my back, but I remember last year something totally uncool happened between me and my friend Mina.  Mina and I have been friends since like forever.  We totally met in baby gymnastics and it seemed like we were inseparable since.  We even went to the same school too, but that’s when the trouble began…

Last fall, when we started school, all of a sudden it seemed like Mina couldn’t stop talking about this girl Penny.  She and Penny had met at the pool club over the summer – while I was at camp, and they had hung out and really hit off.  At first I was happy for Mina – I mean I was glad she wasn’t moping around all summer.  But I was worried.  Penny is one of those girls – totally popular and always surrounded by a group of friends – totally not the nicest girls either if you know what I mean.

I was afraid that once we got back to school and Penny was surrounded by all her old cronies she would drop Mina like that.  I was all prepared to offer a sympathetic shoulder to cry on, but the total opposite happened.

It seemed like Penny and Mina were totally inseparable!  And now Mina was part of Penny’s clique.  And I was the one left wondering where I was going to sit and lunch.  Then Mina began avoiding me out of school. One time I caught her breaking plans to go to the mall with me to go over and have “spa-cials” at Penny’s house.  Ooooo – I was so mad.

And then it turned out that Penny was saying mean things about me – calling me desperate and a hanger on, and a goody-two shoes.  Instead of defending me, Mina laughed right along with everyone else.  Boy did that really burn me up.  So what did I do?  Ok so,  I went home and had a really good cry.  I rallied.  I called one of my other friends and asked her to go kick the soccer ball with me.  And I kept my distance from Mina.  But I kept my mouth shut.  And before long, I was making new friends and having a great time.  Sure I missed Mina, but I wasn’t moping around – or trying to make her hang out with me…

But you’ll never guess what happened….to be continued….Check out Part II here

Nature Girl – A Book Review

Hi GirlMoguls – I just came across this cool new book I thought I would let you know about – it’s sort of a fish out of water tale and pretty funny.   When city girl Megan is sent to the wilds of Vermont in the summer she’s pretty bored  — no TV, no Internet, no friends.  And then she gets lost in the woods.  Instead of heading back to Vermont, she heads south to Massachusetts, hiking along the Appalachian trail to find her best friend Lucy.  With only her dog for company, Megan learns to appreciate the wilder side of nature. Fat Cat Book Club Part 3

fatcat bookOkay, girls, can I just say “Whoa!” I was definitely NOT expecting Cat’s love life to take off the way it did. Just to make sure I’m not spoiling any plot points for you, make sure that you’ve about ¾ of this novel, up to Chapter 61 (that’s page 231). Now that we’re on the same page, no pun intended, let’s talk about some good stuff. Greg, then Nick? What is Cat thinking? I imagine she must be feeling so many emotions. For the first time, she is actually going on just hormonal emotional instead of her usual rational logic. That must be crazy for her!

I’m glad that Cat dumped Greg, though. You could totally tell that he was not as intelligent, and couldn’t keep up with Cat’s fast-paced brains. She’s smart and witty, and he was just not with it. Nick, on the other hand, is super smart. But, he’s such a flirt. From the rumors and stories, we know he gets around with a ton of girls over the summer, even if he may not during the school year. He doesn’t seem like the guy Cat should ideally be with, because he is only interested in her physically. I really hope she makes the right moves with him, and by that I mean no moves.

I’m really glad that Cat is cooking again. I would love to be Amanda! I mean, getting gourmet food and a best friend? What more could a girl ask for? Plus, that food, despite being super healthy, also sounds upper delicious. I’m actually considering looking up some of those recipes and trying them. If you do, please comment and let me know how they turn out!

Anyway, I’m really curious how this so-called Phase II of Cat’s experiment will turn out. My questions from this part of the novel are:

What effect will Phase II have on Cat’s experiment? Will her lifestyle changes and changes in appearance really make that big of a difference on the dynamics of her relationships?

Will Cat FINALLY see herself in the mirror, with Amanda’s help?

What will happen between Matt and Cat? Will ever find out what happened between them, because Matt doesn’t seem to know either!
