Hey Girls,

All Girl Arcade.com
All Girl Arcade.com
Here’s your Friday tech update. Perhaps you have checked out allgirlarcade.com, which is a cool gaming site just for girls – it’s all free, which is neat. They have just launched Spark City which is their new virtual world.

You can create avatars, interact and earn money, known as Gems. You can have your own apartment and decorate it the way you want, and you can also buy your own clothes and make up your own outfits. Plus they have the Girl Gourmet Store where you can make your (virtual) gourmet cupcakes. Even though I am not that in to all of the girly stuff, who can say no to a cupcake. I haven’t had too much time to check it out, but I will be in there this weekend – if anyone else gets a chance to check it out, let me know what you think in the comments.

Jonas Brothers Give Lifetime Pass

Jonas Brothers
Jonas Brothers
So who was lucky enough to get a free LIFETIME Pass to the Jonas Brothers? And I mean a pass that will get them into any concert, anywhere, anytime? Apparently the fans-in-chief who live at 1600 Pennslyvania Avenue (that would be the White House). Yup, our gals, Malia and Sasha scored all access lifetime passes to the Jonas Bros from the band themselves. How cool is that? Though I suppose they might have to break their 8 PM curfew to go – but it would be worth, right?

I’m Looking “UP” for a Good Movie

Lately, I’ve been kind of upset with the movies. All the movies I have gone to see in the past few months have turned out to be a bit disappointing. I love animated movies, but lately, I haven’t seen any great animated movies with some kind of deeper understanding. For example, Finding Nemo was great not only because of the beautiful aesthetics of the film, but also because of the sarcastic humor and wit. Furthermore, the movie had a significant message in the end that left you thinking about your own life and how much you appreciate your family.
I went to the movies in the past few months and saw films like Bolt, Hotel for Dogs, and Coraline 3-D. Bolt was funny and the animation was good. However, I didn’t leave the theater feeling fully satisfied. With Hotel for Dogs, I did not like the jokes as much as Bolt. The acting was okay, and there were no big surprises in the plot. With Coraline, the claymation was done really well, but the last half of the movie was just creepy. There was these weird scenes that creeped even my parents out, and were just gruesome. I thought ultimately the movie was spectacular looking, but the story and way they showed the “dream world” just gave me chills. I was not a fan of the bizarre themes running throughout the motion picture.

Now, I’m totally looking forward to Disney Pixar’s newest film, Up. The movie is supposed to be released nationwide on May 29th. All of Pixar’s films have been huge successes, and some of the most riveted animated films in history. They have produced everything from Monsters Inc to The Incredibles to Finding Nemo. Also, their most recent movies include Ratatouille and Wall-E. The animators at Pixar have the uncanny ability to turn objects or animals that humans don’t usually have an affinity for into lovable little characters. For instance, people hate rats! But by the end of Ratatouille, you learn to love little Remy and his ambitions of being a chef.

Up is about an old grump man who is determined to fly his house to South America by attaching it to 10,000 balloons. You see, Carl, the main character, is a widower. He spent years with his childhood sweetheart, dreaming about a fantastical land in South America called Paradise Falls. Up is about his adventure and attempt to get there, as he encounters a boy scout who got stuck on his front porch, a giant bird who loves sweets, and a canine who translates his thoughts to English.

Now this is a movie I can’t wait to see. Let me know your thoughts on this movie, and the recent animated movies in theaters!
